Firefox 8 Released

Continuing the trend of a more frequent update cycle, Mozilla have today released Firefox 8 bringing with it a few new features.

The most significant is the addition of Twitter search integration into the top right hand side of the toolbar. This allows Tweeters, the chance to search for users, hash tags and topics from the search bar.

Firefox for Android also receives a security update with Master Password allowing them to keep their passwords secure on the go.

Virgin Media TiVo Box Update

Virgin Media UK have started rolling out the version 15.2 firmware update to 3500 customers in the Crawley and Cambridge areas. The update will be released to all customers before Christmas and brings with it a host of new features. These include a revamp of the YouTube channel, “red button” services support, Spotify support, BBC iPlayer support. HD up scaling, Pay Per View events and more. Viber App Receives Major Update

Viber 2.1 Update

Popular VOIP iPhone and Android application Viber received a major update to version 2.1 this week. For those who are unaware, Viber allows users with an iPhone or Android smart phone to call and message each other for free over 3G and WiFi. Viber has had its fair share of success although sometimes making a Viber call with a weak data signal can result in a poor experience.

Viber intend to solve this issue by implementing a brand new voice engine which should result in better call quality for users. In addition, two new features added in 2.1 are picture messaging and location sharing. The icing on the cake is a visual refresh for the app bringing with it a more attractive user interface.

Viber is available free to download on the Apple App Store and Android Market.

Flash Improvements Enhance Social Gaming

Recently Adobe announced an update to their Flash Player and Adobe Air browser plugins. Flash Player 11 and Adobe Air 3 will bring significant improvements to the platform in the form of hardware accelerated graphics.
