Notch Steps Down As Project Lead On Minecraft

December 3, 2011 in Gaming

Markus “Notch” Persson the brainchild behind Minecraft has stepped down as Project Lead now that the game has officially been released. Markus feels very confident in passing on the reins over to long time colleague Jens “Jeb” Bergensten who will take over Markus’s role on the game. The reason behind the change is that Markus wants to dedicate more time to his next project and upcoming game Scrolls.

Minecraft Goes Gold

November 15, 2011 in Gaming

Markus Persson is an independent game developer who in 2009 created a break through game called Minecraft. The freedom provided by Minecraft in its build what you want style of game play really resonated with the public, especially after the success of play, create and share games such as Little Big Planet.

Markus actually released the game while it was in Beta. This means that the game had not been fully tested or was even complete but users could download and play the game in its current state. More than two years on from its 2009 debut, Minecraft has finally gone Gold. The game is complete and ready for a full release.

With such a huge following, this week the very first Minecon convention will take place to gather Minecraft fans from around the world. Markus “Notch” Persson will debut the full release at the convention. Do not assume that the game will cease development here. As long as the community continue to request features and additions to make the game better, Notch will continue to improve the Minecraft experience via post release patches and DLC.
