Prey 2 Developer Session
The original Prey was a showcase of how id Tech 4 more commonly known as the Doom 3 game engine, could be used to create a very visually different high contrast experience. It told the story of a Native American known as Tommy who quickly became involved in an alien abduction. The game had you fighting your way through an alien mothership to destroy it. You were able to run along gravitational walkways which allowed you to scale walls vertically. This was definitely a nice mechanic and being based on id Tech ensured the game felt solid. I enjoyed the original Prey and was excited when Prey 2 was announced.
Prey 2 is developed by Human Head Studios although under a new publisher this time round, Bethesda. Seeing as the first game started and finished the main plotline, Human Head decided to approach Prey 2 from a fresh perspective. At first, I was sceptical about the change especially as you now play an air marshal who was aboard a plane that crashed into the alien mothership during the early stages of the first game. You quickly find yourself in an alien city working as a bounty hunter which is where this game picks up.
