Batman Bat Cave Latest DLC For Arkham City

November 28, 2011 in Gaming

It was inevitable that Rocksteady had created an epic DLC offering for their latest game Batman Arkham City. So far we have seen challenge maps for Nightwing and Robin but the latest is a set of challenge maps for Batman.

The Bat Cave will be a featured new location and preorder bonuses of the Joker Carnival and Penguin Iceberg Lounge challenge maps will also arrive at the same time on December 20th.

There has been no word on pricing or whether purchasers who already own the Penguin or Joker maps can purchase the other two separately. The DLC offerings so far have been interesting as they have allowed you to play as new characters in new locations. The feedback reflects that the cost is too high for a one off brawl mode and fans would much rather have story expanding DLC for the new characters.

It may be a possibility as one of my earlier article’s points out that story based DLC may be in the works for the newer playable characters. You can also expect to see more as the game encourages you to visit Calendar Man all year round indicating long term support for the game. A game of the year edition bundle is most likely in the works bundled with all DLC for release next year but not until small DLC has been milked completely.

US Talk Show Conan Batman Arkham City Segment

October 22, 2011 in Gaming, TV

Batman is an old character invented many years ago. Realistically, Batman should be in his 50′s. This segment combines footage from the new game Arkham City with the voice over of a more elderly Batman to provide an amusing alternate reality.

Nvidia Convinces You Why The PC Version Of Batman Arkham City Is The Best

October 19, 2011 in Gaming

Nvidia’s proprietary PhysX technology has really brought out the most in games over the past few years. In addition to their 3D vision technology PhysX adds better particle effects and smoother cloth animations. Batman Arkham Asylum was a great game to showcase Nvidia’s cool PC exclusive features and the sequel only goes to top its predecessor. Arkham City pushes the technology further particularly due to the cloth effects of Batman’s dominant cape and the new litter filled and gritty feel of Arkham City. Nvidia have released a trailer to show you the difference.

As with most PC games, expect the release date to be later than the console launch. Batman Arkham City releases for the PC on November 18th with the console launch this Friday 21st October.

Batman Arkham City Game Tips

October 18, 2011 in Gaming

Batman Arkham City releases later this week in the UK and the press, America and even a few Australians have already got their hands on the game.

Arkham City is a large game with plenty of content, significantly more than Arkham Asylum. Therefore the way you play the sequel will be different. Certain items make a return such as Riddler trophies which you may decide to approach the same way as before.

Kotaku have provided readers with a few useful tips on how to go about playing Arkham City and why certain things should be done first and others left until later. I don’t believe there are any major spoilers in the article for those wondering so go ahead and take a peek.

Batman Arkham City Developer Session

Batman Arkham City Developer Session

If you read my post on my hands on with Batman Arkham City, you will know that after the moment you obtain control of Batman you are alerted to a local disturbance. For this demonstration Rocksteady decided to show case other elements found within the area available to explore rather than follow the main story mission. We were told that you can play the game at any pace and could start a main story mission whenever you felt like it. There are plenty of side quests and small crimes that Batman can deal with at any time.

Batman Arkham City Booth

Batman Arkham City Booth

I had the opportunity to play the E3 demo which gives you a chance to play as Catwoman and Batman. Batman Arkham Asylum had a very distinct art style with dark environments and beefy character models. This gave the game a unique atmosphere which carries through in the sequel. The exception to the rule is actually how small Catwoman’s character is. This in a way portrays her style of combat. She is quick and agile in a fight tending to jump around and attack like a gymnast occasionally whipping her enemies.

The cut scenes that follow are very well executed in terms of camera angles and musical score to really emphasize the drama that comes with Batman’s universe. The voice acting is also brilliant setting a great tone whilst showcasing the eccentric personalities of Gotham City’s villains. A shoulder mounted camera is used at certain points which I personally am not a big fan off however it isn’t used during important points in the game which is a relief.
