You can try both services for free with your PC without any additional hardware. Having used both OnLive and Gaikai to play games I can say that the concept is definitely a step in the right direction. A strong and consistent internet connection is the biggest issue facing both companies as a drop in your speed can make you lose immersion in the game instantly. I feel that Gaikai is better at handling that aspect and they also provide a higher visual quality game stream over OnLive. I do however prefer the interface and UI of OnLive over Gaikai and particularly enjoy using the Micro Console.

I’d rather have good games that run well. So afar gaikai has offered none of this. I’d also be curious to see how expensive the games are.
