LoveFilm has been the film streaming service of choice for UK residents. Over in the states, LoveFilm has substantially more competition in the form of other large competitors such as Hulu and Netflix. It seems as though one of those competitors has seen the potential of the UK and Irish market and plan on getting their fair share of the action.

Netflix will be crossing the pond in early 2012 promising to offer unlimited streaming on PC, Mac, tablets and mobile devices for a monthly subscription fee. You should be able to choose from a substantial selection of TV Shows and Movies and supported devices will be announced nearer the launch.

Netflix has been undergoing controversy recently in America as they reduced their content partners and increased subscription fees. There have also been reports of mediocre stream quality. It will be interesting to see what approach Netflix take in penetrating the British and Irish markets.
