Cube Houses Rotterdam Back

Today we walked through the town centre and went to see the Cube Houses of Rotterdam. Its unclear from outside whether the residents live at an angle or if there’s a flat floor inside. From there we went to the Rotterdam Windmill and climbed up through the inside seeing Read the rest of this entry →

The Atomium Brussels

After sleeping at the station last night we arrived in Brussels at 7.30am. We started the day by visiting the Atomium sculpture. It was on the outskirts of the city. Apparently there is a mini museum inside each atom but we didn’t go up inside to see.

Back in the city centre we began our walking tour by visiting the Palace of Justice with its gold dome located in a pretty good position to obtain Read the rest of this entry →

Lazy In Luxembourg

Musee De La Banque Luxembourg

Last night we ended up going out with a few of the people from our hostel. Heidelberg has a university so we ended up at the student bars. Germany had just won the world cup match so the atmosphere was crazy. We have never seen so many people drinking so much beer so fast. We left early seeing as our train left at 7.20am. In the morning we literally jumped on the train 5 seconds before the door closed!

After arriving in Luxembourg it was very confusing as some people speak Read the rest of this entry →

Climbing A 436.6 Foot Mountain To Support England

June 23, 2010 in Eurotrip 2010

Heidelberg Mountain Viewpoint Konigstuhl

We left Switzerland at 6am heading for the small scenic town of Heidelberg near Mannheim and Frankfurt in Germany. The main attraction is a large castle on top of the mountain with a view of the river that runs through the town. We arrived at 12pm but couldn’t check into our hostel until 3pm. Since we were only staying in Germany for 1 day we left our bags there and headed off to the castle. The castle was fairly high up and gave good views of the town. Inside the castle there was a medicine museum with old medicine bottles herbs and even Aspirin. There was another room with a ridiculous sized wine barrel or vat. The barrel could hold 228,000 litres of wine! We asked a security guard about going further up the mountain and he said Read the rest of this entry →

Hispanic Dancing Girls Festival De Musique Geneva Switzerland 2010

After reaching Switzerland we left Benjamin’s house in Commugny and headed down to Geneva town centre. The local park there was hosting a music festival. Fete De Musique Geneva 2010. We wondered around the park with lots of food stalls and a range of music stages. We were there because Benjamin’s brother was performing. Look up Rootwords/Cappy Nelson, Chakal and A-Stout for more info. During his performance he had the Read the rest of this entry →

Train Mayhem

June 20, 2010 in Eurotrip 2010

Austrian Marina

Yesterday evening we sat down to watch the Denmark vs Cameroon match with a litre of wine. After the match we had 20 mins to get to the station and it was raining again. We ran over a few bridges grabbed our bags and got onto the train in Venice. This was our first sleeper train so instead of seats we had a bed compartment. There were 6 beds stacked like bunk beds in sets of 3. We were given a pillow and duvet too. Note for future don’t drink a litre of wine and then lie down on a bed in a rocking train. After a good few hours sleep we were meant to arrive at Innsbruck at 4.30am and they took our passports away for the Italy Austria border at the start saying we would Read the rest of this entry →

The Canals Of Venice

June 19, 2010 in Eurotrip 2010

Gondola Ride Canal Venice

By the time we arrived in Venice it was 1.30am. Our train stopped at Venezia Mestre station which was on mainland Italy. We had to cross a long bridge to reach the water city of Venice itself. When I booked the train tickets the guy on the phone said it was a 5 min walk over the bridge. What a liar. Everyone else heading to the city either were catching Taxis or buses. We waited for the bus to come which was free too because it was so late. It took a good 15 min bus journey obviously with a crazy Read the rest of this entry →
